Bikini

Here’s a track I just made

Hit the play button and read on…

Bikini Atoll is a small group of islands in the Pacific where the atomic bomb was tested. I’d read Jack Niedenthal’s ‘For the Good of Mankind: A History of the People of Bikini and their Islands’, and I feel it’s a story everyone should know, so I urge you to check out his site and read his book.

What really affected me was the disparity between, on the one hand, the 167 Bikinians and their island home, and the naive power of the US on the other. It’s a pitiful story; staggering and incomprehensible. And, sad to say, it’s a story that’s played out all over the world in countless other ways today.

You should also know that the bikini is so called because a marketing bod likened the power of an atomic explosion to the explosive power that wearing a bikini would have on men.

So there you go, humans!

Hi Mike. managed to get fridays gig onto disc (very nice!!!). Bikini is lovely – when you spoke about using lots of effects and things on the forthcoming album I feared you might overdo it (perhaps this is silly of me as you clearly have high standards of auto-editing) but its a lovely mix (yours?) and nice uncluttered sound.
    whats the next track?
do you want a copy of the w o w gig from about six months ago?

Yeah, the mix is mine. Shame the player doesn’t play at the highest quality. It sounds SO much better at the highest rate.
Next track is in the pipeline :)
And a big yes to any stuff! Thanks!

Hey Mike, comment ça va ? Long time an’all… Very nice blog.

Hey great tune, although …I know I’m just a drummer but sounds ‘a bit’ like this track, innit?! ;)

Merci! And you are right, it is because you are a drummer that you have failed to understand what’s going on ;) So for the benefit of your fellow stick-twiddling brethren, I’ll explain. This was a group I was in, and we used to use my track as the intro for John’s track, which follows the intro.
    Sorry, couldn’t resist that ;)
So, hope all’s well with you fella! Miss playing with you very much. Let me know if you’re in town. Be great to catch up!
    à bientôt

    So zat eez whyyyy!… :)
Well that makes you even more of a sacrebleu musician if others use your music to introduce (excuse my french) their music (which follow yours, right?)…
Anyway, all is good here and yes, I too miss THAT time where we were laughing as much as grooving. The 3 of us with Rob just being stupid and Anna telling us off. That was a great band.
Might come for a short trip with the missus, will give you a shout if I do, mate.
Take care and keep up all the great work
